2020-2021 Leadership team

Marcella Ledesma '21

Hi! I'm Marcella, the head drum major for 2020-2021. Aside from being drum major, I also play the flute in Symphonic Band! One of my favorite parts of band is seeing the connections and friendships that people make with their peers, and also seeing underclassmen grow to become leaders and role models to incoming freshmen. Outside of band, I manage the Track and Field team, am a member of the Filipino-American Club, and participate in Cafe Mots.

Hello! My name is Jewel Merriman and I am the assisting drum major for this marching band season. In symphonic band I play the clarinet, and I grew up playing piano. I love band because it really is it’s own community filled with dependable, accepting, and supportive members. My band mates have truly become some of my closest friends and I will cherish the memories I have in band forever. Outside of band I am a part of the school basketball team, speech and debate, and I have also participated in mock trial. I hope to have an amazing band season with each and every one of you!

Hi! I'm Krystle and I am this year's band president! I play mallet percussion for the Front Ensemble and Symphonic Band. Choosing to join Band as a sophomore was one of the best decisions I have ever made in high school. It's a life changing experience to learn a new instrument and make connections with fellow musicians who will soon become some of your closest friends. I am also a member of the school's String Ensemble. I look forward to having a great year with this year's Lancer Band!

Ashley Zhuang '21

Hello, I’m Ashley, the flute section leader! I play the flute, piccolo, and piano. I love performing with the band and making music in general. In addition to being part of the band, I am also a member of the Science Olympiad team and Robotics club. I like listening to all kinds of music, reading novels and comics, and drinking tea. If you see me in the halls, don’t hesitate to say hi!

Kate Warner '22

I play clarinet and I'm the clarinet section leader. I love band because of just how much fun it is. I love music, and when I get to play and march together with everyone else and create something amazing, it feels so cool, to just he part of that. I also like to write!

Matthew Guibord '21

Hi, I’m Matthew and I’m the saxophone section leader this year. Being a part of the band is an amazing experience because I feel like I have found a second family amongst the band community. Joining the Lancer Band was one of the best decisions I have ever made! I get to spend a lot of time with some of my closest friends, and do something I love at the same time. Outside of band, I am part of the Youth Advisory Committee of Mountain View and Scout Troop 30.

Max Madrigal '21

I am a senior and will be the Low Brass Section Leader for the Lancer band. Throughout my three years in band, I have participated in the symphonic band, jazz band, brass ensemble, and the pit orchestra. Along with band, I am also on the gold swim team. My favorite thing about band is getting to do something I am passionate about and creating amazing art in such a great community of people.

I play french horn and mellophone, and am the section leader of the high brass. The one thing I love about band is being together all the time during marching season. The amount of time we spend together helps build these bonds and make us a tight knit group. Besides band, I play on the varsity tennis team, and lead a volunteer program, tutoring elementary school students math through math games( a great way to complete freshman service hours!).

Pujita Tangirala ‘22

Hi! I’m Pujita and I am one of the percussion captains this year, specifically the drumline section leader! My freshman year I played bass drum 2, and my sophomore year I played snare drum. I am also the drumset player for our jazz band. My favorite part of band is the community and family I’ve found through the program. The power of art and music to bring all kinds of people together has really changed my life. Outside of band, I am a science editor and columnist for the school newspaper and the events coordinator for the South Asian Student Association.

Aline Garcia-Sanchez 2021

I am the front ensemble section leader and I play mallet percussion. One of the things that I enjoy most about band is the performances. During the performances I am able to see that after all of the hard work in the practices we are all able to come as a group and create something spectacular. Some things that I do outside of band is yearbook and swimming and outside of school I do dance and other after school programs.

Kenneth Orogo '21

I'm an incoming senior, and section leader of the color guard! I love taking part in the extracurricular activities around campus, and am a part of clubs like Family Club, International, and Interact. You'll probably catch me around the band room after school, practicing tosses and working on some new choreography. When I joined sophomore year, my feelings of being out of my element quickly disappeared, only to be replaced by a sense of loving warmth and being taken care of. What makes band special to me is how welcoming everyone is; their constant kindness towards others and insistence on having their arms wide open to everything and everyone creates a special environment that's hard to find on campus.

Julian Ramprashad '21

Hi there! My name is Julian, and I am a special projects manager for the SFHS Lancer Band this year. In band, I mostly play flute as part of symphonic band, marching band, and string ensemble. However, I have also played piano in pit orchestra for the spring musical Chicago. I enjoy marching band because the great amount of time and effort we spend as a group working to improve our field show is an invaluable way of building strong and meaningful friendships, and the experience leaves us with a rewarding sense of accomplishment, pride, and solidarity. On the other hand, my favorite part of symphonic band is definitely the repertoire. Outside of band, I take part in multiple science activities at Saint Francis, including the Medical Club and Science Olympiad.

Timothy Ruzon '21

Hello! I am one of the projects managers in band. I play brass instruments and piano. I like to play with Lego and go camping with my Boy Scout troop.
